A NOT FOR PROFIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOUNDATION
The Christopher James Hall Foundation is an award winning non-profit photography foundation dedicated to empowering individuals facing diversity, disability, and poverty through photography. Founded by Christopher James Hall, a professional photographer based in St Albans, the foundation’s vision is to create a more inclusive and empathetic society by harnessing the transformative power of photography.
The foundation collaborates with charitable organisations across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire to create projects, exhibitions, and other initiatives that enable marginalized individuals to express themselves through photography. Through real stories and imagery, the foundation raises awareness about social challenges, fostering understanding and support for those in need.
The work, driven by our project-based approach, has resulted in numerous exhibitions and publications that highlight important social issues. The foundation’s mission is to use photography as a tool for positive change, helping individuals overcome obstacles and build brighter futures.
In essence, the foundation aims to make a meaningful impact by amplifying voices and advocating for those facing adversity, all through the lens of photography.
Our foundation is dedicated to using photography to transform lives. We collaborate with our project partners to provide projects, exhibitions, and opportunities for self-expression to marginalised individuals, helping them overcome challenges and build a brighter future.
The foundation organises projects where individuals facing adversity, such as poverty or disability, canbe given a voice that will be heard. These projects provide confidence, empowerment and a creative outlet for self-expression.
Working with various charitable partners, the foundation develops projects that address specific social issues. These projects are often led by the individuals themselves, ensuring their voices and experiences are central to the work.
Through campaigns, the foundation raises public awareness about social challenges like homelessness and discrimination. These campaigns use photography to tell compelling stories that inspire empathy and action.
The foundation collaborates with charitable organisations to create exhibitions showcasing the work of participants. These exhibitions help raise awareness about social challenges and celebrate the stories of those involved.
The foundation produces books and other publications that feature the stories and photographs of participants. These publications aim to share real-life experiences and bring attention to issues faced by marginalized communities.
It takes 1,000 cups of virtual coffee to fund each part of our projects, and with our ambitious plan for 2024, we need your help more than ever. This year, we aim to work with 40 charitable organizations on 5 major projects, covering domestic abuse, homelessness, mental health, disability, and age. Our goal is to amplify the voices of over 250 individuals, producing 50 exhibitions and 10 publications.
Help us reach our goal by giving a donation and supporting our work? Your contribution will make a significant difference and help us empower more voices and raise critical awareness.
OUR AMBITIOUS BOLD PLAN

OUR STORY IS WHAT DRIVES US
Homelessness led me to photography, transforming my life, instilling hope, confidence, and a unique perspective, ultimately becoming my profession and driving me to establish the foundation to empower others through photography.
