Telling Real Stories

I’m Christopher James Hall. I photograph people and real moments — from wedding days to long-term story projects. My work is shaped by lived experience, using photography and words to tell honest stories and help people feel seen.

WEDDINGS

My wedding photography focuses on real moments, quiet details, and honest emotion — exactly as the day unfolds. I don’t stage scenes or interrupt what’s happening. I pay attention instead. The small looks. The nervous hands. The laugh that happens when no one thinks they’re being watched.

I work in the background, letting the day breathe. That’s where the good stuff lives. The photos are natural, relaxed, and true to you. No forced smiles. No awkward poses. Just a clear record of how it actually felt to be there — which, years later, matters more than perfect.

AUTHOR

My books are rooted in real life, shaped by lived experience, and written to give difficult subjects a human voice. I’m not interested in shock or drama for its own sake. I focus on the everyday moments — the humour, the pauses, the small acts of kindness — because that’s where truth usually sits.

The stories deal with things people don’t always know how to talk about. Dementia. Addiction. Loneliness. Recovery. I write them with care and honesty, aiming to make the reader feel less alone, not lectured. Real life is messy. The books are too. That’s the point.

PROJECTS

My projects are built around real people, lived experience, and stories that deserve time, care, and attention. I don’t rush them, and I don’t simplify them. I spend time listening before I ever lift a camera or start writing. Trust comes first.

These are not surface-level stories. They are shaped by conversation, patience, and respect. The aim is always the same: to reflect people honestly, without labels or shortcuts, and to make space for voices that are often missed or spoken over.

Photographing What Actually Matters

I photograph real life. Not the staged version. Not the tidy edit. The real moments that sit in between — the ones people feel rather than pose for.

My work sits across two connected spaces: wedding photography and long-term documentary storytelling. On a wedding day, I’m there to observe, not orchestrate. I look for the small things that matter — the nerves before the ceremony, the glances no one thinks anyone else noticed, the laughter that breaks the tension. I don’t ask people to perform. I let the day breathe and document it as it unfolds, so the images feel honest, personal, and true to the people in them.

Alongside weddings, I create in-depth photography and storytelling projects focused on dementia, addiction, volunteering, and social justice. These projects are shaped by lived experience, including my own. I spend time with people. I listen. I record conversations. I build trust. The camera comes later. This approach allows people to relax, open up, and be themselves, which is where the real story lives.

The words matter as much as the images. I often combine photography with first-person narratives, turning conversations into stories that reflect the person’s voice rather than my interpretation. These projects become exhibitions, books, and reports that are used by charities, councils, and organisations to raise awareness, inform decisions, and create change.

Whether I’m working with a couple on their wedding day or with someone sharing a deeply personal story, the process is the same. I show up as a human first, a photographer second. I work quietly, respectfully, and with intention. My aim is always to create work that feels real, holds meaning over time, and helps people feel seen — not just photographed.

My Style

I asked people what words they would use to describe my style. This is what they came up with:

Honest.

Calm.

Human.

Purposeful.

The Quiet Before
Small moments before everything begins
Letting Go
When the nerves turn into laughter
If my work resonates, I’d love to hear from you.

Let’s Talk

Whether you’re planning a wedding, thinking about a photography or storytelling project, or simply want to ask a question, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to have a proper conversation and see where it leads.

I work best when there’s time to talk things through, understand what matters to you, and work out whether we’re a good fit. No pressure, no sales talk — just an honest chat about people, stories, and what you’re hoping to create.

If you’re unsure how to explain your idea, that’s fine too. Start where you are. We’ll take it from there.
