Christopher Hall
I’m Christopher James Hall. I photograph people and real moments — from wedding days to long-term story projects. My work is shaped by lived experience, using photography and words to tell honest stories and help people feel seen.
I photograph real life. Not the staged version. Not the tidy edit. The real moments that sit in between — the ones people feel rather than pose for.
My work sits across two connected spaces: wedding photography and long-term documentary storytelling. On a wedding day, I’m there to observe, not orchestrate. I look for the small things that matter — the nerves before the ceremony, the glances no one thinks anyone else noticed, the laughter that breaks the tension. I don’t ask people to perform. I let the day breathe and document it as it unfolds, so the images feel honest, personal, and true to the people in them.
Alongside weddings, I create in-depth photography and storytelling projects focused on dementia, addiction, volunteering, and social justice. These projects are shaped by lived experience, including my own. I spend time with people. I listen. I record conversations. I build trust. The camera comes later. This approach allows people to relax, open up, and be themselves, which is where the real story lives.
The words matter as much as the images. I often combine photography with first-person narratives, turning conversations into stories that reflect the person’s voice rather than my interpretation. These projects become exhibitions, books, and reports that are used by charities, councils, and organisations to raise awareness, inform decisions, and create change.
Whether I’m working with a couple on their wedding day or with someone sharing a deeply personal story, the process is the same. I show up as a human first, a photographer second. I work quietly, respectfully, and with intention. My aim is always to create work that feels real, holds meaning over time, and helps people feel seen — not just photographed.
I asked people what words they would use to describe my style. This is what they came up with:
Whether you’re planning a wedding, thinking about a photography or storytelling project, or simply want to ask a question, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to have a proper conversation and see where it leads.
I work best when there’s time to talk things through, understand what matters to you, and work out whether we’re a good fit. No pressure, no sales talk — just an honest chat about people, stories, and what you’re hoping to create.
If you’re unsure how to explain your idea, that’s fine too. Start where you are. We’ll take it from there.
