Introduction

Sopwell House is a stunning, quintessentially British wedding venue. Set within landscaped grounds, the house itself is Grade II listed and has been lovingly restored with an elegant mix of classical and contemporary design.

The house boasts a magnificent oak staircase, Georgian windows and a large conservatory overlooking the gardens. The estate has been around since 1377 and is steeped in history. In Victorian times it was home to Lord Clifford of Chudleigh who had extensive improvements made including laying out formal lawns and creating beautiful flower beds.

Situated on the edge of historic St Albans, Sopwell House is surrounded by acres of beautiful gardens that lead down to St Albans Cathedral. The Roman city walls are just a stone’s throw away from the mansion house and guests can also enjoy walking along Hatfield Road where there are many restaurants and bars to visit.”
