The Gatehouse or St Albans Register Office is possibly one of the most popular venues that I visit as a wedding photographer. It is also one venue that I just love visiting again and again, so when I got asked about wedding photography there I just jumped at the opportunity.
With so many register offices being exceptionally busy this year The Gatehouse does have one little advantage over other venues. It has a second garden. Many register offices may urge you to move on as quickly as possible as the don’t want weddings to overlap, and with good reason. You would want your guests turning up and being surrounded by the guests from the previous wedding. It can also be very confusing for any wedding photographer. With The Gatehouse though, once the main photographs are done in the main garden you can always move to the smaller garden to get those last few images.
Fortunately though with this wedding we didn’t have any of those challenges as it was straight off to the happy couples home for a garden party wedding reception. Such a great, relaxed way to spend the afternoon and the kids had fun playing pirates in the safety of the garden.
