Photography Mentoring.

From Idea to Exhibition

Turn Your Photography Project into an Exhibition.

Developing a photography project and turning it into an exhibition is an exciting but complex process. Whether you’re working on a personal project, a social awareness campaign, or an artistic showcase, there are many moving parts to consider. It’s not just about taking great photographs—it’s about crafting a powerful narrative, engaging the right audience, and ensuring your work makes an impact.

Many people start with a strong idea but struggle with the next steps. You might be asking:

How do I turn an idea into something tangible?

Maybe you have a theme or subject in mind but are unsure how to structure it into a cohesive project. Perhaps you have already started shooting but don’t know how to bring everything together. A clear plan and structured approach will help you turn your ideas into something real.

How can I create impact through my work?

A strong message is key to any successful photography project. But how do you ensure your work connects with people, sparks conversations, or influences change? Understanding how to combine storytelling, emotion, and visual impact is essential to making your project resonate with its audience.

What’s the best way to secure funding or support?

Funding, sponsorship, and partnerships can provide essential resources for your project, but navigating applications, proposals, and grants can feel daunting. Knowing where to look and how to present your project to potential funders or collaborators can make all the difference.

How do I stay focused and on track?

Many projects start with enthusiasm but lose momentum due to lack of structure, uncertainty, or time constraints. Having someone to guide you, hold you accountable, and keep you on track ensures your project moves forward and reaches completion.

Incredibly powerful and deeply moving and will, no doubt, touch, change and even save lives across our country.

Got Questions?

Let’s Clear Things Up

Who is this mentoring for?

This mentoring is designed for photographers, artists, charities, and organisations who want to develop a photography project or exhibition. Whether you’re working on a personal story, a social awareness campaign, or a community-led initiative, these sessions provide expert guidance to help you move forward.

Do I need to be a professional photographer to benefit from mentoring?

No, mentoring is open to all experience levels. Whether you’re an experienced photographer looking to refine your storytelling or someone just starting out with a meaningful project in mind, sessions are tailored to meet your needs.

What can I expect from the first session?

The first session (1.5 hours) is an in-depth conversation about your project, your goals, and where you need the most support. We’ll explore your ideas, identify challenges, and outline your next steps. By the end, you’ll have a clear plan for moving forward, whether through additional mentoring or independent work.

How do I know if I need an ad hoc session or a package?

If you need help with a specific challenge—such as refining your concept, writing a funding application, or planning your exhibition layout—an ad hoc session may be enough. If you want structured, ongoing support to keep your project moving, a mentoring package will provide consistency, accountability, and expert guidance throughout the process. If you’re unsure which is right for you, get in touch to discuss your needs.

How often do sessions take place?

Sessions are completely flexible. Some people book weekly or fortnightly sessions for structured progress, while others prefer to book as needed. If you're working towards a deadline, we can set up a schedule that works for you.

Can I change the focus of each session?

Yes! Every session is tailored to what you need at that moment. Whether you want to focus on storytelling, technical skills, exhibition curation, or funding applications, each session is designed to help you make meaningful progress in the areas that matter most.

Do you provide feedback on my images?

Yes. If you need guidance on image selection, sequencing, or storytelling, sessions can include portfolio reviews and structured feedback to ensure your work aligns with your project’s message and audience engagement.

Do I need to have an exhibition planned to book mentoring?

Not at all. Many people start mentoring with an idea but no clear plan for how or where their work will be displayed. Whether your goal is an exhibition, a publication, or an awareness campaign, mentoring will help you develop a clear direction for your project.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

If you need to reschedule, just provide at least 48 hours’ notice, and we’ll arrange a new time. For ad hoc sessions cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may not be eligible for a refund.

Do you offer support with funding applications and proposals?

Yes. Whether you need help identifying funding opportunities, writing grant applications, or structuring sponsorship proposals, mentoring can provide practical support to give your project the best chance of securing financial backing.

Can I book a bespoke mentoring package?

Yes. If you need long-term guidance or have specific requirements, a bespoke mentoring package can be designed for you. Whether you need an intensive short-term plan or mentorship over several months, we can create a package that works for your needs.
