I’m Christopher James Hall, an award-winning documentary-style photographer based in St Albans. My passion is capturing authentic, candid moments that tell meaningful stories and connect deeply with people. Over the years, I’ve worked with countless families, couples, and individuals, helping to preserve their most cherished memories through photography.
Beyond personal projects, I’ve collaborated with over 40 organisations on awareness-driven initiatives. These efforts have resulted in impactful exhibitions, welcoming over 10,000 visitors, and four publications, all aimed at raising awareness of social challenges and inspiring change. My work has been recognised with several honours, including the Special Contribution to Photography Award from The Guild of Photographers and the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Award.
In addition to photography, I’m a mentor, author, speaker, ambassador, and social advocate. I’m also proud to lead the Christopher James Hall Foundation (CJHF), a charity dedicated to amplifying marginalised voices through photography. Through workshops, mentoring, and exhibitions, the foundation empowers individuals to share their stories and advocate for social progress.
When I’m not behind the camera or working on foundation projects, I cherish time at home in St Albans with my wife, Claire, and our dog. With my children grown, I often find inspiration during early morning walks around the city, enjoying the tranquillity and charm of my surroundings.
